A Vintage Cloche Nativity

1,800.00

This vintage glass dome, we are told, is from the late 1800's and may be of French origins.  The glass is extremely thin, unlike domes made today.  The dome sits on a solid wood footed base with an ebony finish.  Some age marks bring character to this vintage piece.

The round presentation nestled inside is a stunning, intimate creation of the nativity, with hand made silk palm tree, gnarled copper wire tree, spun poplar tree and many fine details.  Take note of the crumbling ancient bricks, the dove houses above the roof, and the small stream at the front.

Figures include Jesus, Mary and Joseph, the Gloria angel hovering over the nativity, a shepherd holding a sheep, a shepherd boy, two large sheep in front and a brown sheep in back, and a lamb, and in the doorway, a shepherdess with jugs.  Joseph figure is approximately 4" high.  The figures from the Saviour Collection are all carved mountain maple, with delicate oil color hand applied and are created by our friends at Ulrich Perathoner in the Italian Alps. Overall dimensions of the piece is 10" wide by 16" high.  There is no internal lighting.  It can also be displayed with the glass dome removed, surrounded by greens or small poinsettias.  Signed and dated by the artists.  Truly a one of a kind piece.
