The Assisi Creche

This unique nativity is nestled in an antique apothecary/assayer's box designed for traveling.  It originally contained a brass beam scale, is constructed from glowing mahogany and is from the late 1800's or early 1900's.  It was manufactured by Herman Kohlbusch Sr. at 170 Broadway in New York City.  The Assisi Creche adapted for this glass enclosed box is made entirely of wood and enhanced with copper wire bare trees and hemp spun poplars.  The depiction is in the hills of Umbria, outside of Assisi, where St. Francis staged the first nativity in 1223.  The exquisite figures are from the Immanuel Collection from the workshops of Heide Original in the Italian Alps. The heads, hands and feet are all hand painted, carved linden wood, and each figures is hand wrapped in starched fabric and individually painted.  The dimmable LED lighting controls for the nativity are discretely placed in the drawer below the scene.  An original Renaissance sky painting by Michael Stumpf serves as a backdrop.  Overall size is approximately 27"w x 8" deep x 12" high.  The figures at approximately 4" tall and include the Holy Family, two shepherds, one shepherdess, a flying angel, four sheep and a donkey. The reproduction top of the piece is not original to the box.  The price does not include shipping in the continental U.S. and will be quoted separately.  Local white glove delivery in the immediate Delaware Valley is complimentary.
